Virginia is the co-coordinator and host of the Portland branch of Why There Are Words,  a literary reading series.  Why There Are Words Portland, otherwise know as WTAW PDX, takes place quarterly (February, May, August and November) at Leach Botanical Garden in SE Portland.

If you are interested in reading your work at a 2019 WTAW PDX event, please see these submission guidelines. Please also include in your submission email the reading dates/theme for which you’d like to be considered:

• February 17: Peace and Justice
• May 19: Exile and Return
• August 18: Truth and Reconciliation
• November 17: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness
